Burch pumps. Cockcroft relied heavily on the low vapours pressure pumping oils used by Burch in his diffusion pump. They were used to evacuate the rectifies column and the accelerating tube of the Cockcroft-Walton apparatus. 2 files. |

Milton-volt magnet. This was the analysis magnet used at the earthed end of the accelerating tube of the 2mv philip set errected in the new high tension lab in 1939. It continued in use after the war. 0.5 file. |
