The papers that survive in this collection concern Christie's activities as an independent investigator on behalf of Lord Robert Vansittart. The papers for the later years of the War consist mainly of essays by Christie and his informants. Christie went through his papers in the 1960s and pencilled additional notes on them. |

"The Saar Problem". This is possibly the memorandum referred to by the Foreign Office, at the end of a list of questions sent to Christie, 5 January 1934. A lot of the printed text has been underlined. It discusses the territory and population, industrial conditions and economic relations, the coal mines, status and governmental regime, the 1919 settlement and the history in the intervening fifteen years, existing political conditions in the Saar and the 1935 plebiscite. 39 folios. |

The contents of this file include letters from the Sudeten leaders Henlein (there are a lot of papers relating to a trip that he made to England in 1937), Ledebur and Rutha (December 1935-December 1937). Dr Otto Strasser. Strasser (born 1897) was the leader of the Schwarze Front (the Black Front) feared by the Nazis. He was associated with Hitler in the early days but left the Party in 1934 along with his brother. He was a proposed member of the Anglo-German Advisory Committee.
