1 Letter from Sir James Stirling. A translation into Japanese of a letter from Sir James Stirling, H.M.S. 'Winchester', to the Governor of Nagasaki [Mizuno Tadanori], 7 September 1854, labelled in Parkes' hand 'Sir J. Stirling Treaty(?) &c(?)'.

2 Japanese letter to G.A.C. Brooker. A copy of a letter (in Japanese) from Mizuno Chikugo [Mizuno Tadanori], Nagai Gemba, Inoue Shinano [Inoue Kiyonao], Hori Oribe [Hori Toshihiro] and Muragaki Awaji to George A.C. Brooker, 22 February 1859, 3 folios, with a bifolio containing a translation of the letter from Japanese into Dutch (with the additional signature of Moriyama Takichiro), followed by a translation from Dutch into English, certified by Henry Heuskens. There is also an envelope labelled 'Capt Brooker visit to Japan Copies of Letters'.

4 Notice of appointment of mining agent. A copy of the legal notice of the appointment of J.M. Jaquemot as agent for the Prince of Aidzu for the leasing or letting of mines in the Prince's estates and dominions, dated Wakamatsu, 15 September 1868, including the seal of the Prince and the seals and signatures of his ministers Kadgiwarra Hema [Kajiwara Heima], Yebina Kundji and Yamawatsu Daikaku.

A copy of the stipulations and conditions of an intended lease of mines in the Prince of Aidzu's estates and dominions, dated Wakamatsu, 15 September 1868, including a list of the known mines and metalliferous sites. The document includes the seal of the Prince and the seals and signatures of his ministers Kadgiwarra Hema [Kajiwara Heima], Yebina Kundji and Yamawatsu Daikaku.
