Content and context

Thirteen photographs taken during Sino-Japanese fighting in Shanghai in 1937 depicting activity at Ferry Wharf (the City Government jetty) in front of the offices of Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd, Peking Road, and the inside of some of the offices. The envelope includes a covering letter from Glen Line Ltd, London, to A.B. Stewart, Matheson & Co. Ltd, London, 21 October 1937. There are duplicates of some photographs.
