Content and context

A copy of the verdict of the jury of inquest summoned by M.J. Senn van Basel, Provisional Acting Netherlands Consul in China, to consider the violent death of Captain F. Mackenzie of the Netherlands ship 'Vrouw Helena' in Canton, dated Canton, 2 October 1830. The jury concludes that Mackenzie's death was due to blows inflicted by the Parsees Nowrojee Framjee and Jamsetjee, servants of Merwanjee Hormasjee, during an affray in the Dutch Hong.
