The envelope is labelled 'Letter dated 12th November 1906 from James Steuart Edinburgh to Wm. Keswick, London, setting out terms + conditions on which Sir Robert Jardine had taken over China properties. Wm Keswicks letter (copy) 20/12/06 confirming correctness' and 'press copy of Wm. Keswick's original letter in Press Copy book of 1906'.

The correspondence was formerly part of the Chairman's private historical papers held in Matheson & Co. Ltd's strongroom.
