The correspondents include Augustine Heard & Co., Shanghai and Yokohama; R.S. Butterfield, Bradford; Butterfield & Swire, Shanghai; Butterfield Bros, Bradford; George Basil Dixwell, C.E. Endicott and Robert I. Fearon (of Augustine Heard & Co., Shanghai); John A. Fraser, Yokohama; A.O. Gay (agent for Augustine Heard & Co., Yokohama); Augustine Heard Jr., Dieppe, London and Paris; A.F. Heard, Hong Kong; George F. Heard, Hong Kong; R.S. Butterfield & Co., Bradford; and J. Swire, Shanghai. There is also some correspondence between members of Augustine Heard & Co. The letters are accompanied by a copy of an agreement between Augustine Heard Jr and Butterfield Brothers [1864], and accounts and invoices exchanged between Augustine Heard & Co., R.S. Butterfield & Co., and A.O. Gay, dated Bradford, Yokohama and elsewhere, 1866-1871.
