Copies (mostly press copies) of letters from Jardine Matheson, Shanghai, to correspondents in Australia, France, Great Britain, India, New Zealand, the United States, and other parts of Europe and Asia, with related accounts, invoices and other documents. The letters are addressed predominantly to correspondents outside China and Japan, but there are a few letters to Hong Kong. Some sets of letters are in numbered, chronological sequences, and some have indexes. From 1878, letters to Matheson & Co., the United States, and many London correspondents are found in separate series (D3/2/3-5). |
