The documents are dated Hong Kong, Macao, Ningpo and Shanghai, 1858-1905 and undated, and include a memorandum of rents payable for properties in Hong Kong, with a memorandum regarding taxes; memoranda of voyages of the 'Banshee' from Shanghai; documents regarding a transfer of shares in the Hongkong Fire Insurance Co. Ltd; memoranda regarding receipts and disbursements for the 'Carthage'; a memorandum of tea shipped on the 'Wynand', Macao, 1858; and examination questions regarding navigation and maritime law. The documents include reference to Henry Beveridge; Camillo Souza; Thomas Wallace; and James Whittall.
