Content and context

Whereas by Indentures of Lease and Release dated 9 and 10 February 1700 [Doc 257] Edmond Williamson junior of Westminster released to Charles Rampayne of Westminster, John Shelton of London John Rampayne of Westminster and Charles Farwell of Westminster certain land, to them and their heirs for ever upon certain trusts; and whereas by Indenture dated 10 February 1700 [Doc 258] Charles Rampayne released to John Willson of Birling, Sussex, and Charles Farwell certain land in their possession by Indenture of Lease dated the previous day [Doc 259], to them and their heirs for ever upon certain trusts; and whereas it was agreed that Edmond Williamson should have power during his life to charge the property with any sum towards the maintenance of any younger child of him and his wife Martha; and whereas such power by mistake was not inserted and the marriage has taken effect; all the parties agree that it shall be lawful for Edmond Williamson to charge the land with any sum for the maintenance of any younger child or children. Witnesses: John Plamleigh, George Foskett. Three seals are attached.
