Martha Brock, widow, of Shefford sells to the Reverend Edmond Williamson of Campton, Bedfordshire certain land in Shefford, for the term of one year at a peppercorn rent, that he may be in actual possession and able to take a release. Witnesses: George King, William Morris. One seal is attached. vellum. |

Lease and release indenture, Shefford, Bedfordshire. Whereas John Phipps of Shefford by will dated 13 November 1813 devised to his daughter Martha Brock and her heirs certain land in Shefford; and whereas his will was not revoked and proved 11 February 1814; and whereas the Reverend Edmond Williamson of Campton has agreed with Martha Brock of Shefford for the absolute purchase in fee simple of the land in question; and whereas Edmond Williamson desires that the land should be limited to certain uses; Martha Brock releases to Edmond Williamson the land in question, to him and his heirs for ever subject to such trusts as he shall appoint; in default of such appointment to the use of Edmond Williamson for life, on determination by default or otherwise to the use of Thomas Gurney of Bedford during the life of Edmond Williamson, and after his death to the use of his heirs for ever, to prevent any wife of Edmond Williamson from being entitled to her dower out of the premises. Witnesses: George King, W. Morris. On the back is a receipt for the consideration money signed by Martha Brock. Witnesses: the same. vellum. |

Bond, Shefford, Bedfordshire. Martha Brock of Shefford binds herself to the Reverend Edmond Williamson of Campton Bedfordshire, in a certain sum. Whereas by Indentures of Lease and Release dated the day before and the same day as the present bond Martha Brock released to Edmond Williamson certain land in Shefford upon certain trusts; if Edmond Williamson and his heirs hold the land without hindrance, then the obligation is to be void. Witnesses: George King, William Morris. One seal is attached. vellum; 2 leaves. |
