Content and context

Whereas the Reverend Thomas Wilkinson of Campton has agreed with William Nutkins of Calbourne, Isle of Wight, son of Thomas Nutkins of Campton, son of William Nutkins of Campton, for the purchase in fee simple of certain land in Campton; William Nutkins releases to Thomas Wilkinson the land in question being in his possession by indenture of lease dated the previous day [Doc 225], to him and his heirs to the use of him and his heirs for ever. There are no encumbrances except a mortgage for a term of a thousand years dated 12 November 1764 made between William Nutkins the grandfather and John Endersby of Campton now vested in William Dunnage of Hitchin, Hertfordshire, executor of John Endersby, who intends to assign it in trust for Thomas Wilkinson. Witnesses: Richard Clarke, attorney, Newport, Isle of Wight, Christopher Edward Lefroy, gentleman. On the back is a receipt for the consideration money signed by William Nutkins. Witnesses: the same. One seal is attached.
