Content and context

This series contains nine bundles of Sassoon's incoming correspondence. Personal and business correspondence is intermingled, and the letters are grouped according to subject matter (awards of honorary degrees; 'The Heart's Journey'; Sassoon's engagement; work on a film about T.E. Lawrence; 'The Old Century'; his CBE; and his religious conversion), or correspondent (Katherine Asquith letters). There is also a series of miscellaneous letters.

The letters in each series are arranged chronologically, with the earliest first.
