John Latham (1740-1837), ornithologist

John Latham published Index ornithologicus sive systema ornithologiae; complectens avium divisionem in classes, ordines, genera, species, ipsarumque varietates: adjectis synonymis, locis, descriptionibus &c. (London, 1790).

3 vols., MS 2nd edition, 1834, marked by Latham 'ready for the Press'. The volumes were acquired by J.E. Gray, and then by Alfred Newton from Quaritch in 1874.
