1 Correspondence relating to the purchase of Johnston's punches by Stanley Morison. Correspondents include George T. Friend, J. H. Mason, Monotype Corporation (J. C. Tarr), Stevens Shanks & Sons Ltd (Douglas Stevens). With these letters are letters from Morison to Brooke Crutchley about the dispatch of the punches to Cambridge University Press.

2 Punch proofs of founts designed by Edward Johnston. Six smoke-proofs on separate leaves: 2-line Brevier roman and italic (90 punches); 2-line brevier roman capitals (24 punches); Greek lowercase (9 punches); 10 point Black upper and lower case (77 punches); 12 point Black upper and lower case, and numerals (130 punches); 18 point Black upper and lower case and numerals (136 punches). There are duplicate sets of proofs for the last 5. With the cover of a loose-leaf book, so marked, from which these pages have been removed. It is dated 1946 in pencil.

4 Photographs. Mostly photographic copies of Johnston's drawings. Many of these are identified as being made for Alan Fern. Other photographs were made for John Dreyfus's Italic quartet (1966). With these is a set of 13 negatives labelled 'Negatives of Johnston papers given to Alan Fern in Spring 1955 by the daughters of E. Johnston'; and a tear-sheet of Fern's article 'The count and the calligrapher'.

6 Correspondence between Count Harry Kessler and Edward Johnston. Typescript so captioned, listing letters 1904-1913 and summaries of their contents. This was probably made for John Dreyfus's use in writing Italic quartet. The list corresponds to part of series A of this collection, including letters besides those between Kessler and Johnston.
