Papers of Stanley Morison

Title Compositions of Morison
Reference MS Add.9812/A
Covering Dates 1922-1970
Extent and Medium 15 boxes and 1 oversize box
Content and context

This series consists of papers, including correspondence, relating to Morison's published and unpublished compositions (except memoranda internal to the Monotype Corporation and The Times). Also included are some items which, although not properly compositions of Morison, incorporate his work, whether in supervision, editing, or design.

Each composition is a subseries; except that compositions represented by only a short or fragmentary ms. or typescript, or by a printed copy only, have been put together into a separate subseries at the end of the sequence. Also in this subseries are blocks or pulls therefrom made from Morison's handwriting.

Arranged chronologically, using in most cases the date of publication. Within each subseries, arrangement is likewise approximately chronological except where stated otherwise.
