| Content and context |
Edward will have to bring a private servant, suggests a young man brought up in a livery stable, not a fine valet. William's name must be returned for purchase. Colonel Hodge agrees about a servant, but recommends a Frenchman "on account of their skill in cookery", the English batman can look after the horses. Is vexed that Stewart has been sent to the West Indies, "however there seems to be a possibility of a row with those precious Yankees, who with their usual honourable manner of acting, appear disposed to prosecute their piratical designs on Cuba", so Stewart may have something to do yet. |
