The volume begins at Oshima, Japan, on 4 July 1882 and concludes at Avatcha Bay, Kamschatka, on 13 August 1882. At the back of the volume is a short description of an excursion to Formosa. In the inside pocket is a mounted photograph of the Hafuya Hotel, Hakone; two leaves; and a sheet containing the printed words 'Colombo Fort'. The entry for 5 July records that some of the crew lunched with Sir Harry Parkes. |
