Rupert Chawner Brooke (1887-1915) poet and essayist
Brooke and Fry met as undergraduates at King's (Fry having come up in 1905, a year before Brooke), and continued their friendship after Fry left Cambridge in 1908. The letters form only a portion of those that Fry received from Brooke, others having been given by him to Edward Marsh while the latter was writing the memoir that introduced the collected edition of Brooke's poems published in 1916.
This collection of letters was presented by Geoffrey Fry to Cambridge University Library in March 1939.

Five letters from Fry to the Librarian, A. F. Scholfield, concerning the gift, are catalogued as MS Add.7469. Sir Geoffrey Fry's papers were presented to the Library by his granddaughter in 2004 (MS Add.9710), and a catalogue has been produced, prefaced by a brief account of Fry's career.
The cataloguing content of this record derives from the work of Stephen G. Roberts in 2007 January. The data was converted by Richard Turnbull in 2012 March and uploaded with minor editorial additions by Adam Perkins, 2012 July 05.
