Content and context

Ernest Augustus Perceval (1807-1896) was the sixth son of statesman Spencer Perceval (1762-1812). He was Captain, 15th Hussars, and lived at Severn House, Henbury, Gloucestershire, then Chapel Cleeve, Bridgwater, Somerset. He married his cousin Beatrice, daughter of Sir John Trevelyan, 5th Baronet.

Includes: (fo. 1) note upon work and wages in the mills at Knutsford; (fo. 2v) various notes upon domestic matters; (fo. 15) notes upon certain payments and allowances; (fo. 16) general accounts, kept daily, January 1831 - December 1834; (fo. 64v) accounts of sums spent upon particular objects, 1835-1838; (fo. 120) drafts and receipts, 1831-1836; (fo. 129) rough notes and accounts for 1837. On the fly-leaves at the end are rough pencilled notes and accounts. On the fly-leaf at the beginning is the autograph of Ernest Augustus Perceval, 1 January 1831.
