Ernest Augustus Perceval (1807-1896) was the sixth son of statesman Spencer Perceval (1762-1812). He was Captain, 15th Hussars, and lived at Severn House, Henbury, Gloucestershire, then Chapel Cleeve, Bridgwater, Somerset. He married his cousin Beatrice, daughter of Sir John Trevelyan, 5th Baronet.

On the fly-leaves at the end are rough pencilled notes and accounts. On the fly-leaf at the beginning is the autograph of Ernest Augustus Perceval, 1 January 1831.
