Content and context

Three of the original authors featured in the album are most likely the Wesleyan ministers William Maclardie Bunting (1805-1866) and John Hannah (1792-1867), and John Farrar (1802-1884), president of the Wesleyan methodist conference.

Album consisting mainly of a series of sermons and verses, 1 January 1809 - 10 November 1822, fos 34-121, the copy dating from c. 1850. There are also entries by (fo. 6) William M. Bunting, 16 June 183[ ]; (fo. 8) J. F[arrar], 24 April 1832; (fo. 9) Harriet Bunting; (fo. 10) John Hannah, 14 July 1832; (fo. 15) Frederick J. Bentley, 1858; and (fo. 31) Sophia M. Farrar, 24 April 1832. The writing is in various hands, and there are 133 folios in total. On fo. 4 is an elaborate title-page. Fos 1-3, 5, 7, 11-13, 16-30, 32, 33 and 122-133 are blank. Inside the front cover is the bookplate of Maude Bentley (Mrs Drinan).
