Francisco Zazzera was a citizen of Naples.
The Duca d'Ossuna was appointed govenor of the Naples by Spain in 1617, and championed the cause of the people against the nobles and clergy.
Written in four hands, 312 folios: (fo. ii) title; (fo. 1) text. There is a change of hand at fos 269, 272v and 310. On fo. i is the bookplate of Sir T. Phillipps.
The diary was purchased by Sir T. Phillipps from Longman no. '9' (fo. iv), and formed no. 2448 in the Phillipps Library. It was purchased by the Library in 1914.
