George Harbin matriculated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge in 1683 (B.A., 1686). He took orders, and became chaplain to Francis Turner, Bishop of Ely. After Turner's death he was chaplain and librarian to Viscount Weymouth. Harbin died in September 1744.

A series of extracts made by George Harbin from a copy of a register of Ely Priory at the time in the possession of Sir William Wyndham, Bart, 80 folios. The copy was made by Sir W. Wyndham for G. Harbin in October 1735 (see p. 144). The extracts include references to the pages of either the original or to Sir W. Wyndham's copy.
