Roscarrock, Nicholas (? 1548-? 1633), Catholic activist and hagiographer

(fos 1-5: only fos 3-5 remaining, contents of missing leaves displayed in index at fo. 12) introductory matter; (fos 6-11) calendar of saints; index to fos 1-11 at fo. 12; (fos 13-14) notes on feasts and holy days; (fos 15-23) alphabetical table of saints in the 'Catalogue'; (fo. 24r) title page and sonnet to the reader; (fo. 24v) verse 'friendly warining to the reader'; (fo. 25) preface; (fos 1-402) lives of saints, alphabetically to Simon Sudbury.

MS damaged and incomplete. Sources for each life supplied by author.

ompiled by Roscarrock while in Lord William Howard's household at Naworth Castle. Bequeathed c. 1700 to the parish of Brent Eleigh by Edward Colman, sometime member of Trinity College, Cambridge. Purchased by the Library from the trustees of the Brent Eleigh parish library, June 1891.
