Copy of indenture between Richard Brakyn, lord of the manor of Chesterton, and Thomas Brakyn his son and heir, and the copyhold tenants of part of the manor, 13 Nov. 1577, with index and modern copy; Chesterton rental, 1585; John Benstead, ferryman: list of persons paying acknowledgement to lord of manor for ferry passage, 1693.

fo. 1: 'For Mr Francis Carter Written by Ri. Meade g[ent] in the yeare 1693', 'Thos H. Naylor MA 1881', 'in the year 1715 Abd. Halls His Book', 'Jonathan Johnson 1743'.

The parchment wrapper preserves part of a lease for 40 years by Edward Marshall of Wimpole, Cambridgeshire, to Edward Dockwray of 'Putteridge', Hertfordshire, of an unidentified rectory, temp. Elizabeth.

Formerly belonged to Francis Carter, Abd. Halls, Jonathan Johnson, and presented by Thomas H. Naylor to the Library in 1881.
